Tier list A or B is very good, 5 years or more warranty is very good, but at the very least get Tier C and three years if you want a cheap one. For a list of all processors by performance, check out our See full list on. If you buy a PSU, always check the tier list, and check for the warranty period. This can come back to haunt you within a couple years. It's the fastest-deteriorating component inside a PC (if it's a cheap one), because of the use of conventional electrolytic capacitors that are subject to elevated temperatures.
#NEWEGG PSU TIER LIST UPDATE#
This is simply an update of the list that was flawed in creation by the PCMR subreddit and in dire need of a refresh. The PSU is a place where i wouldn't try to save the last 10 bucks. Credit to Starelementpokeand Energycore for helping out with this long-awaited refresh of the old PSU tier list by Aniallation (who previously went several months without logging in), leaving the old list in need of help. Those Seasonic 80+ Gold units, or the "be quiet!" equivalents like Pure Power 11, are highly recommended, you can't beat the current price of those Seasonics though, although Newegg claims they will only last for another 7 hours from now. I would return that PSU if you still can, and get a better one.Īssuming you are in the US, there are great deals on the Seasonic 500W 80PLUS Gold PSUs right now such as the Seasonic CORE GX-500. This tier is sufficiently powered and protects your components regardless of taking the 4th spot on the tier list. In short, you can easily buy off a PSU from this tier without spending too much. I would not trust that PSU to be the foundation of my entire system, not for a second. The silver tier incorporates most of the top-notch PSUs with lowered price tags. Plus the component selection (capacitors etc.) is very cheap too. This is a very budget-class PSU which uses a group-regulated design, not really suitable for today's high power draw over the 12V rail.
Uhhh yeah, that Rosewill Hive, that's a Tier D, "Recommended only for very cheap, iGPU systems",
